Family Fun

Food Trucks at City Hall – Thursday, June 23rd, 2016
Providence City Hall, 5 PM to 8 PM

Come down to Providence’s City Hall for your favorite local eats! This new monthly event will take place the 4th Thursday of every month from May to September. PVD Ghost Tours – Thursday, June 23rd-Sunday, June 26th
Prospect Terrace Park – 8 PM to 9:30 PM

Providence Ghost Tours are back for the summer. Join a lantern-led tour for a chilling walk through the darkened streets of the historic East Side of Providence. Listen to the stories about Providence’s haunted past!

Birds from Down Under – Thursday, June 23rd, 2016
Roger Williams Park Zoo, 10:30 AM to 4:30 PM

Take a trip to Roger Williams Zoo to visit with more than 450 bird species native to Australia, including grass parakeets, cockatiels and various other parrot species. Each visitor will receive a seed stick and is free to feed the exotic birds while engaging in conversation about their habitats and the environmental challenges they face. Admission is an additional $3 to zoo admission.

Spring Weekend Harbor Seal Encounters – Thursday, June 23rd; Saturday, June 25th; Sunday, June 26th at 2 PM
Giraffe Feedings – Daily 11:30 to 12 PM

People of all ages are welcome to Roger Williams Zoo for animal feedings! Giraffe feedings take place daily, while seal feedings are offered on the weekends in the spring. Standard zoo admission to attend giraffe feedings, but please RSVP. Seal Encounters are $20 for members, and $25 for non-members.

Food Truck Friday – Friday, June 24th, 2016
Carousel Village at Roger Williams Park, 5 PM to 8 PM

People of all ages will delight in “Food Truck Friday” held at Carousel Park in Roger Williams Park! From 5 to 8 PM, local food trucks will be open for dinner while customers enjoy live music and other activities. Pony rides will be offered, in addition to Hasbro’s Boundless Playground and the park carousel being open for use. There will also be a beer garden for the adults to enjoy while they take in the beautiful scenery. There is no cost for entry, but pony/carousel rides and food/beverage will be an additional cost.

Metlife Family Friday – Friday, June 24th, 2016
Providence Children’s Museum, 5 PM – 8 PM

Families are invited to explore and play at Providence Children’s Museum free of charge! The museum will be free on Friday evenings from 5 PM to 8 PM, sponsored by the Metlife Foundation.

Mud Play – Saturday, June 25th & Sunday, June 26th, 2016
Providence Children’s Museum, 11 AM to 2 PM

Bring your child to Providence Children’s museum to celebrate International Mud Day! Make mud pies with natural materials.

Concerts

Amici E Musica – Sunday, June 26th, 2016
RISD Museum’s Grand Gallery, 2 PM to 3:30 PM

Amici E Musica will be performing at in the Grand Gallery at RISD Museum for the “Romantic Rarities” concert. The concert features works of the romantic period including those by Puccini, Schubert, Kaun and Wood. Come check out local musicians playing strings and woodwinds! This event is free for all ages.

Portals: The History of the Future Exhibition – Thursday, June 23rd & Friday, June 24th, 2016
Providence Public Library – 12:30 PM to 5:30 PM

The Providence Public Library is offering a new exhibition called “Portals: The History of the Future“, which will “highlight the material trails left by the people of the past as they looked to the future.” Visitors will be able to take a look at what the future looked like to our predecessors, and how it varies greatly from the reality we live in today. Admission is free for all ages.

All of Everything: Todd Oldham Fashion – Thursday, June 23rd – Sunday, June 27th, 2016
Rhode Island School of Design Museum, 10 AM to 5 PM

The “All of Everything” exhibition features original designs by the talented Todd Oldham. His creative designs, well known embellishment work, superb craftsmanship, and unique flair dominated fashion in the 1990s. From a Swarovski crystal-encrusted ensemble to a Pantone non-repeating print design, this exhibition offers 65 complete ensembles in a wide variety of styles, all labors of Oldham’s “intensive design process” and attention to detail. Movies on the Block – Thursday, June 23rd, 2016
Grant’s Block, Sundown

Head to Grant’s Block this Thursday around sundown for Movies on the Block! This week, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” will be playing. Dine at a surrounding restaurant for dinner then settle into your blankets and chairs for the feature movie! Admission is free.

Movies in the Park – Friday, June 24th, 2016
Roger Williams Park, 8 PM

After Food Truck Friday, Roger Williams Park will be hosting Movies in the Park. This event will take place the last Friday of every month. This month, “Moonrise Kingdom” will be playing starting at 8 on the Boathouse Lawn. Spend your Friday night at RWP! Event is free.

Dale Cover & Rockin’ Joe Herbert Comedy – Thursday, June 23rd, 2016
10 Rocks, Doors at 7 PM, Show at 9 PM

Dale Cover with special guest Rockin’ Joe Herbert will be at 10 Rocks on Thursday night! Come by for a great atmosphere and a night of fun and laughs. Doors open at 7 PM for dinner and drinks, show begins at 9 PM. Click here for more information.
