Event Details

On August 8th at the Bell Street Chapel, “The Last Straight Man” will be showing at 6:30pm as part of the Rhode Island International Film Festival.

LSMThe Last Straight Man:” Closeted gay Lewis throws a rowdy bachelor party for his straight best friend Cooper, on whom he has a secret crush. After the guests have gone, passions build and Lewis and Cooper go to bed together. The next morning, Cooper seems all right with what happened, but Lewis is left wanting more. He takes solace in a book of romance stories containing passages that seem to comically reflect his own dilemmas.
Four years later, the two men meet up again, as they have been doing every year since their initial hookup. Lewis struggles with his feelings for Cooper, who only seems to be interested in an annual sexual hookup, but as the years pass, the men’s relationship develops as they reveal significant events in their lives, and as sexual boundaries widen.

Now in its 18th year, FLICKERS: Rhode Island International Film Festival™ (RIIFF) will take place August 5-10, 2014.
