On August 7th at the Bell Street Chapel, “Waiting in the Wings: The Musical” and “17 anni (Age 17)” will be screening at 8:30pm as part of the Rhode Island International Film Festival. 
“Waiting in the Wings: The Musical:” Waiting in the Wings: The Musical is a story of mistaken identity that takes us into the lives of Anthony, a musical theatre performer, and Tony, a professional stripper. Through a series of comedic missteps, other humorous characters are woven into their stories. What does it take to make a dream come true and is there ever a time to give up on a dream? This heart-warming, emotion and relationship-centered story explores these issues with light-hearted, often satirical musical numbers and with witty dialog and banter between this diverse cast of characters.Anthony is living with his boyfriend, Trevor, in Montana. Anthony is the optimistic and slightly naive performer always looking for opportunities to shine on stage and make his dreams come true. Trevor is the closeted, sarcastic and conservative realist who tries to bring Anthony down to earth. This is especially true when Anthony focuses in on an online audition for an upcoming Off-Broadway production in New York City. While Anthony is focused on how this is an opportunity to make his dreams a reality, Trevor is focused on the $25 entrance fee and how all Anthony will get from this is less money in his wallet.Tony, a hot stripper in New York, spots an advertisement detailing a contest for strippers that reads, ‘ARE YOU A STUD? AMERICA’S STRIP SEARCH!’ and he is immediately interested. He produces a video montage to enter in the competition. In this video he shows his appeal to men and women of all ages to hopefully become ‘America’s hottest stripper.’Thanks to these contests being held by the same production company, and our leading men having the same name, an unexpected case of mistaken identity explodes. Horizons are broadened, lives are changed forever, and hilarity ensues. Waiting In The Wings: The Musical is a comedy for everyone who’s for ever had a dream. This heart-warming story explores how far one goes to make a dream a reality with a cast of characters that prove, “there’s no people like show people.” 
“17 anni (Age 17):” Matteo is a 17-year-old boy who comes to the realization that he is in love with Don Massimo, a young priest of the village that leads the marching band in which Matteo plays the drum. He sees in Massimo a person willing to listen to his fears and desires. For the first time in his life, Matteo feels ready to open up to someone… Now in its 18th year, FLICKERS: Rhode Island International Film Festival™ (RIIFF) will take place August 5-10, 2014. The Festival has become a leading juried competition showcase for international independent filmmakers and their work. In 2013, Flickers screened 216 cinematic works in six days to large and appreciative crowds. The films screened came from 65 countries, and 36 states in the United States. During the 2013 Festival, there were 55 World and US/North American Premieres. A total of 21 Narrative Feature, 43 Feature/Documentaries and 152 Short Films were screened. Following months of adjudication and review, Festival films were selected from over 5,114 submissions.
