Downtown Abbey Cooking Class:  You will prepare a 3 course menu of delicious, original recipes from the 1920’s. Menu: Broiled Oysters With Peach and Paprika, Apricot Stuffed Pork Tenderloins, Château Potatoes, Julianne Carrots with Lemon Cream and Floating Islands with Lemon-Scented Custard Sauce and Raspberries. 6:30 p.m. located at 41 Lookout Ave, North Providence, RI 02911. $70 per person.

Chris Distefano at Comedy Connection: Described as a high energy comic, Chris Distefano acts out a variety of characters derived from his life, typically leaving you on the edge of your seat. 8:00 p.m. ;located at Comedy Connection, 39 Warren Avenue, East Providence, RI 02914. Tickets are $15.

Saturday, September 19th

28th Annual Apple Festival: Celebrate the harvest with pie baking contests and of course, pie eating contests! Get your farm fresh apples fromAppleland Orchard in Smithfield. Grab a bite to eat and shop with our local vendors. Saturday, September 19th and Sunday, September 20th from 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM at Johnston Memorial Park.

Rhode Island Music Hall of Fame Tour: Explore the Ocean State’s rich musical history with a guided tour of the Rhode Island Music Hall of Fame Museum presented by Archive Director Rick Bellaire.

Broad Street Farmers Market: Come check out the Broad Street Farmers Market, serving the local community fresh fruits and vegetables since 2002! Located at 807 Broad Street in Providence, beginning at 8:00 a.m.

Hope Street Farmers Market: Rain, shine or tropical storm, the Hope Street Farmers Market is OPEN! Located at 1059 Hope Street in Providence, beginning at 9:00 a.m.

Harvest Fair at Coggeshall Farm: Harvest Fair celebrates the simple life, engaging visitors of all ages in friendly competitions, games, lively music and dance, hay rides, pony rides and much more against the backdrop of a working 18th century living history farm.

Rhode Island Outsider Art Fair: The First Annual Rhode Island Outsider Art Fair: showcasing the artwork of a nuero diverse and uniquely abled group of nationally and internationally shown and recognized artists.

Ocean State Oyster Festival: A ticket to the Ocean State Oyster Festival gets you to a half-dozen locally sourced oysters, and a local micro-brew beer or glass of wine, along with live music, shucking contest, food trucks, and a kid-friendly zone along the river boardwalk with the scenic Providence skyline as a backdrop. Children under 12 FREE. This is a rain or shine event. Located at Riverwalk Park in Providence at 12:00 p.m.

Wine and Dine Extravaganza for MS: Come out for a tasting of wine, beer & diverse cuisine from many Rhode Island restaurants. Tickets are $60/each and a table of ten is $500. All proceeds to benefit the MS Dream Center of Rhode Island and Accessible Rhode Island which are dedicated to helping the lives of people with Multiple Sclerosis and all disabilities.

Providence Roller Derby EventThe Old Money Honey’s vs. The Mob SquadThat’s right folks it’s summer time and that means Home Season is back and we will once again be skating outside under the city lights of Providence! Located at 2 Kennedy Plaza, Providence, RI, beginning at 6:00 p.m.

Ky-Mani Marley: Jamaican artist and reggae royalty Ky-Mani Marley is touring the East coast in light of the release of his sixth studio album, Maestro, available on iTunes now! Located at The Met,  1005 Main St, Pawtucket, RI 02860, beginning at 9:00 p.m.

 

Sunday, September 20th

The Hope Street Fall Festival: It’s that time of year again and Eat! Shop! Play! – Hope Street will be going all out for their Fall Festival. Located on Hope Street in Providence, beginning at 12:00 p.m.

Preservation Society of Pawtucket Walking Tour: The walking tour is a continuation of the Preservation Society of Pawtucket’s efforts to appreciate the history of the Oak Hill neighborhood. This walk will cover the 51 lot Sayles Heights Plat started in 1929. This will be a guided tour to look at each house in the plat and will last about 1 1/2 hour. Starting point will be the corner of Nottingham Way and East Avenue. Location: Pawtucket, RI. Free.

Russian Grand Ballet Presents Swan Lake: Only one opportunity to see the full-length classic production of the world’s most famous ballet – Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake, featuring Russia’s brightest ballet stars! Located at  28 Monument Square, Woonsocket, RI 02895, beginning at 6:00 p.m.
