WaterFire – Saturday, July 9th, 2016
Sponsored by Amica Insurance and the generous support of the Textron Charitable Trust.

Lighting at 8:42 PM, fires stay lit until 12:30 AM

All Full WaterFire installations light up over eighty braziers from Waterplace Park to Memorial/South Main Street Park on the below scheduled evenings. Lighting occurs shortly after sunset and the event continues until half past midnight.

Family Fun

PVD Ghost Tours – Thursday, July 7th-Sunday, July 10th, 2016
Prospect Terrace Park – 8 PM to 9:30 PM

Providence Ghost Tours are back for the summer. Join a lantern-led tour for a chilling walk through the darkened streets of the historic East Side of Providence. Listen to the stories about Providence’s haunted past!

Birds from Down Under – Thursday, July 7th, 2016
Roger Williams Park Zoo, 10:30 AM to 4:30 PM

Take a trip to Roger Williams Zoo to visit with more than 450 bird species native to Australia, including grass parakeets, cockatiels and various other parrot species. Each visitor will receive a seed stick and is free to feed the exotic birds while engaging in conversation about their habitats and the environmental challenges they face. Admissionis an additional $3 to zoo admission.

Spring Weekend Harbor Seal Encounters – Thursday, July 7th; Saturday, July 9th; Sunday, July 10th at 2 PM
Giraffe Feedings – Daily 11:30 to 12 PM

People of all ages are welcome to Roger Williams Zoo for animal feedings! Giraffe feedings take place daily, while seal feedings are offered on the weekends in the spring. Standard zoo admission to attend giraffe feedings, but please RSVP. Seal Encounters are $20 for members, and $25 for non-members.

Food Truck Friday – Friday, July 8th, 2016
Carousel Village at Roger Williams Park, 5 PM to 8 PM

People of all ages will delight in “Food Truck Friday” held at Carousel Park in Roger Williams Park! From 5 to 8 PM, local food trucks will be open for dinner while customers enjoy live music and other activities. Pony rides will be offered, in addition to Hasbro’s Boundless Playground and the park carousel being open for use. There will also be a beer garden for the adults to enjoy while they take in the beautiful scenery. There is no cost for entry, but pony/carousel rides and food/beverage will be an additional cost.

Museums

Portals: The History of the Future Exhibition – Thursday, July 8th & Friday, July 9th, 2016
Providence Public Library – 12:30 PM to 5:30 PM

The Providence Public Library is offering a new exhibition called “Portals: The History of the Future“, which will “highlight the material trails left by the people of the past as they looked to the future.” Visitors will be able to take a look at what the future looked like to our predecessors, and how it varies greatly from the reality we live in today. Admission is free for all ages.

All of Everything: Todd Oldham Fashion – Thursday, July 7th – Sunday, July 10th, 2016
Rhode Island School of Design Museum, 10 AM to 5 PM

The “All of Everything” exhibition features original designs by the talented Todd Oldham. His creative designs, well known embellishment work, superb craftsmanship, and unique flair dominated fashion in the 1990s. From a Swarovski crystal-encrusted ensemble to a Pantone non-repeating print design, this exhibition offers 65 complete ensembles in a wide variety of styles, all labors of Oldham’s “intensive design process” and attention to detail. Metlife Family Friday – Friday, July 8th, 2016
Providence Children’s Museum, 5 PM – 8 PM

Families are invited to explore and play at Providence Children’s Museum free of charge! The museum will be free on Friday evenings from 5 PM to 8 PM, sponsored by the Metlife Foundation.

Imagination Playground – Friday, July 8th, 2016
Providence Children’s Museum, 11 AM to 2 PM

Children are invited to come play at Imagination Playground with large  blue foam blocks, wheels, spools, tubes and a variety of loose parts. Bring your imagination to life at Providence Children’s Museum every Friday between July 1st and August 26th!

Gallery Openings at AS220 – Saturday, July 9th, 2016
AS220, 5-7 PM

There will be an opening ceremony for the July gallery openings on Saturday, July 9th from 5-7 at AS220. New galleries openings at places such asAS220 Project SpaceAS220 Main GalleryOpen Window, and the  AS220 Resident Gallery. Come down to get information about all the new works in Providence’s galleries!

Concerts

Never Shout Never – Friday, July 8th, 2016
The Met, Doors at 7 PM, show at 7:30 PM

Alternative rockers Never Shout Never will be at The Met this Friday. Head to Pawtucket to check out the Missouri-native band for some great music and a great show. Openers are Hundred Handed and Me Like Bees. Tickets are $20. Meet and greet packages are available for $80 which include soundcheck access and much more. All ages welcome.

Mr. Thinwheel – Saturday, July 9th, 2016
The Met, Doors at 8 PM, show at 8:30 PM

An upcoming band from North Attleboro, Mr. Thinwheel, will be performing atThe Met on Saturday night. Discover their jazz-fusion sound. Ticket $8. All ages welcome.

Theatre

Providence Poetry Slam – Thursday, July 7th, 2016
AS220 BlackBox, 8-11:30 PM

AS220 will be hosting a poetry slam on Thursday night. There will also be a Youth Workshop from 5-7 this Thursday, which is open for young poets under 19 years old. Youth get into the poetry slam for free on youth nights.
