WaterFire – Saturday, July 23rd, 2016
Full Lighting, sponsored by Cox Business
Lighting at 8:32 PM, fires stay lit until 12:30 AM

All Full WaterFire installations light up over eighty braziers from Waterplace Park to Memorial/South Main Street Park on the below scheduled evenings. Lighting occurs shortly after sunset and the event continues until half past midnight.

Family Fun

Birds from Down UnderThursday, July 21st, 2016
Roger Williams Park Zoo, 10:30 AM to 4:30 PM

Take a trip to
Roger Williams Zoo to visit with more than 450 bird species native to Australia, including grass parakeets, cockatiels and various other parrot species. Each visitor will receive a seed stick and is free to feed the exotic birds while engaging in conversation about their habitats and the environmental challenges they face. Admission is an additional $3 to zoo admission.

Discover Colonial Newport: Walking Tour Thursday, July 21st, 2016
Brick Market: Museum & Shop, 10:30 AM to 11:45 AM

Enjoy a kid-friendly morning in Newport learning about the extraordinary entrepreneurship and religious diversity of the city’s colonial period in a walking tour starting at the Brick Market.  Tours: $15 per person, $10 Newport Historical Society members, active duty and retired military with ID; $5 for children ages 5-12.

Imagination PlaygroundFriday, July 22nd, 2016
Providence Children’s Museum, 11 AM to 2 PM

Children are invited to come play at Imagination Playground with large  blue foam blocks, wheels, spools, tubes and a variety of loose parts. Bring your imagination to life at Providence Children’s Museum every Friday between July 1st and August 26th!

Family Fun Friday at Blithewold – Friday, July 22nd, 2016
Blithewold Mansion, 11 AM to 1 PM

Blithewold Mansion’s Family Fun Fridays are a great family-friendly way to enjoy a summer afternoon! Bring a snack, a blanket to sit on, and enjoy the show as you dance and sing along with the kids to a variety of educational and interactive musical performances. After the performance from 11 to 12, there will be a nature-inspired craft activity, face painting, and pizza from 12 to 1 pm.  The concert is free with Blithewold admission.

Wake up the Barnyard at Coggeshall Farm – Saturday, July 23rd, 2016
Coggeshall Farm Museum, 9 AM to 10 AM

Every Saturday through late August, Coggeshall will open at 9 am for its Wake Up the Barnyard program!  Help feed the chickens, let out the sheep and get the cows ready for the day.  Good for all ages, admission to this program is $5-7.

Spatial Thinkers – Sunday, July 24th, 2016
Providence Children’s Museum, 10 AM to 3 PM

The Providence Children’s Museum invites kids to come explore, build, and play with their event, “Spatial Thinkers.” Bring your child to the Discovery Studio in PCM to experience space and design in a new way.

Concerts

Friday Night Concert Series: Math the Band and Lucius – Friday, July 22nd, 2o16
Waterplace Park, 7:15 PM

Math the Band and Lucius are featured in the city of Providence’s Friday Night Concert Series this weekend, the local showcase starts at 7:15 PM, with the headliner coming on at 8 PM!  All concerts in the showcase are free of charge and good for all ages, so come out and listen to some great music in the heart of the city!

Museums

Gallery Night Providence Tours – Thursday, July 21st, 2016
Gallery Night Providence, tours leave every 2o minutes from 5:30 PM to 6:10 PM

On Thursday, July 21st, Gallery Night Providence is offering free, guided tours to different galleries and museums around the city.  All tours leave from One Regency Plaza in Providence, but times, tour guides and tour destinations vary, so visit the event page for more information!

Full Circle Film Series Kick-Off – Friday, July 22nd, 2016
J T Owens Park, 8 PM to 9:30 PM

UPP Arts kicks off its Full Circle Film Series with Living Narragansett: Stories of the Past Present and Future, a series of short films produced by the Tomaquag Museum and curated by the Museum’s Director Loren Spears. The projection screen in J T Owens Park is mounted on a floating upright 16’ semicircle steel sculpture, and is the perfect way to view Living Narragansett.

Newport Antiques Show – Friday, July 22nd, 2016 to Sunday, July 24th, 2016
Presented by Newport Historical Society at St. George’s School, 10 AM to 6 PM (Fri./Sat.), 10 AM to 4 PM (Sun.)

Come out to the annual Newport Antiques Show at St. George’s School to look at antiques from a group of over 40 of the industry’s most distinguished antiques dealers in one venue.  The antiques show will also feature a loan exhibit and series of educational lectures.  Admission is $15 for one day, or $2o for a three day pass.  More information available here.

Theatre

Damn Yankees – Thursday, July 21st, 2016 to Sunday, July 24th, 2016
Ocean State Theatre Company, 7:30 PM (Thu./Fri./Sat.), 2 PM (Sat./Sun.)

Damn Yankees is a home-run hit musical featuring all-American subject matter, a quick wit and an irreverent sense of humor. Presented by the Ocean State Theatre Company this weekend, Damn Yankees is sure to please.  More information here.
