Wild Art Children’s Classes at Roger Williams Park Zoo
Join artist and educator Eric Fulford as he returns to Wild Art! Each class will include a visit to the focus animal, where students will observe the animals’ unique adaptations and form before returning to the classroom to create their works of art. Classes run select Saturdays through June 2017. Themes include Fuzzy Red Pandas, Giraffe Mosaics, River Otter Paintings, Camel Cartoons and Tortoise Sculptures.
Artists’ Exchange Family Performance Series
Families are invited to join us for our Family Performance Series, perfect for all ages, from the young to the young at heart. Hosted most Saturdays from 11:00am-12:00pm at Theatre 82 & Café, located at 82 Rolfe Square in Cranston. Puppetry, Magic, Storytelling, Improv, Music, and more! Something NEW each Saturday, with performers and acts changing each week.
Pay What You Can Admission. A suggested donation of $5 at the door.

“Thousandth Hour of the Next Journey” Works by NetWorks RI Artist Saberah Malik
St. George’s School Hunter Gallery
Saberah Malik, of Warwick, has combined the traditional and the innovative in both her art and her life. The daughter of an Indian civil engineer, Malik was a first generation Pakistani who grew up traveling throughout Pakistan, absorbing the region’s art and culture.After her children were grown Malik returned to art making, and through the practice of shibori, she created her technique of manipulating fabric into “ethereally transparent forms of stones, bottles, and other artifacts.” She has exhibited her work in solo and group exhibitions, both nationally and internationally, and has won numerous awards.

This informal presentation of paintings and objects from early 12th to late 19th century European collections offer opportunities for chance encounters and unintentional juxtapositions as the Rhode Island School of Design renovates their main European Galleries. When the European Galleries reopen in Fall 2017, the collection will be displayed to reflect the issues, materials, and processes that shaped artistic production. Works of art from the Middle East and Asia will appear alongside European works, demonstrating how artists translated new knowledge about the world. This continues the RISD Museum’s reinterpretation project, initiated in 2009, which has included new installations for art from Asia, ancient Greece and Rome, and ancient Egypt, as well as for costumes and textiles.
Botanical Treasures: The Art & Science of Flower Prints
Presented by The Providence Athenaeum
To enhance the viewer’s experience, a selection of botanical specimens collected by Athenæum members in the 19th century will be on loan from the Brown University Herbarium. These plant specimens provide a visual reminder of what botanists collected and studied to document and illustrate the flower prints on display.
The Horse Show Exhibit at ArtProv Gallery
ArtProv Gallery’s newest exhibit, “The Horse Show,” is group show of works depicting the strength and beauty of horses.
