On August 10th at the Paff Theatre, “The Age of Love” will be screening at 12:15pm as part of the Rhode Island International Film Festival. “The Age of Love:” The announcement of a first-of-its-kind Speed Dating event exclusively for 70- to 90-year-olds spurs a diverse group of seniors to take stock of aging bodies and still-hopeful hearts. Over one summer, we intimately follow as ten speed daters — recently widowed, long-divorced or never-married — prepare for the big day, endure a rush of encounters, then anxiously receive their results. Along the way, candid confessions open windows into the hearts of this overlooked generation. And, as three lucky couples embark on comic and poignant first dates, it’s soon clear that insecurities and desires, fear of rejection and dreams for companionship endure, from first love to the far reaches of life.
