The Art Connection’s 3rd Anniversary: Celebration Of Art In Rhode Island
Please join us at The Art Connection of RI’s 3rd Annual “Celebration of the Art in RI” on Wednesday, April 30 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at Fete. Come celebrate and help us reach our funding goal for 2014. That evening we will present awards to three well deserving recipients. Awards start at 6:30 pm.
Awardees:
THE 2014 ART CONNECTION OF RI ART RECIPIENT AWARD TO MEETING STREET: Meeting Street, a 2013 recipient of our art donation program, compassionately and innovatively empowers children and their families to thrive by fostering the development of the whole child. Meeting Street has fully embraced our program to further their mission and continue to give the children they serve the best possible education.
THE 2014 IONA DOBBINS AWARD TO ARTIST RUTH BRANDT: Ruth Brandt has offered TAC-RI over 40 paintings for donation to nonprofits, of which 11 have been placed between Providence Community Health Center, Hasbro Children’s Hospital, and The Providence Center, and most recently with Children’s Friend and the Genesis Center. Her paintings have been exhibited in galleries at Boston University, Harvard Medical School, Babson College, the DeBlois Gallery and the Newport Art Museum. Ruth is a graduate of the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and she has taught painting and drawing at the Liebig Art Center in Naples, Florida and the Newport Art Museum.
THE 2014 ART CONNECTION OF RI COMMUNITY AWARD TO TOP DRAWER ART AT THE BRASS: Top Drawer Art at the Brass has continued to donate works of art from their participants to our nonprofit recipients. Through art, this program is dedicated to creative expression, individuality, and self-empowerment for adults with developmental disabilities. They offer transportation and supplies for their artists as well as a space to express and pursue their professional artwork. The Brass is the central location for Brass Enterprises, which are small businesses, owned by people with developmental disabilities supported by the nonprofit organization Living In Fulfilling Environments (LIFE) Inc..
