The Rhode Island International Film Festival has secured its place in the global community as the portal for the best in international independent cinema; earning the respect of domestic and foreign filmmakers, film-goers and trend watchers. This confluence of art and commerce brought together world-class celebrities, award-winning filmmakers, new talent and audience members. Ranked as one of the top 12 Festivals in the United States, RIIFF is also a qualifying festival for the Short Film Academy Award through its affiliation with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences. It is the only festival in New England with this accolade.
RIIFF is a 6-day event beginning the second week in August; always starting on a Tuesday at various locations throughout the State of Rhode Island with premiere works in the capital city of Providence. Screening more than 200 films and videos over six days, the Festival will be a visual and auditory feast for film enthusiasts and moviegoers alike. The largest, most prestigious and one of the fastest growing film festivals in the New England region, FLICKERS will be hosted in the historic city of Providence and select films will be screened throughout the state of Rhode Island at festival partner locations.
