ArtProv Gallery’s newest exhibit, “The Horse Show,” is group show of works depicting the strength and beauty of horses.
An opening reception will be held April 7, 5-9 p.m. and a Derby Day reception will take place on May 6, 5-8 p.m.
Main artists exhibiting in “The Horse Show”
Alecia Barry Underhill, Brian Fox, and Melissa Mason.
• Alecia Barry Underhill captures a horse’s mood or look, often by revealing small imperfections like unclipped whiskers or a worn leather halter.
• Brian Fox specializes in painting the world’s greatest legends, including thoroughbreds and their jockeys.
• Melissa Mason is an abstract-expressionist painter who uses horses to explore the painting process.
Additional pieces will be shown by Kate Hoyer, Gin Stone, Mark Holme, and Tim Tolman.
“All of these artists expertly capture distinct aspects of horses,” said Michele Aucoin, co-owner of ArtProv Gallery. “While the mediums, styles and perspectives vary among the exhibitors, what’s constant is their love for the horse as subject and the beautiful equine work that it inspires.”
Regular gallery hours for the show are Wednesday – Friday, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Check the website for updated weekly hours.
