Linnea Toney Leeming: “Inspired Color” Artist Reception

linnea toney leeming

ArtProv gallery’s new exhibit, “Inspired Color,” features the large-scale works of abstract painter Linnea Toney Leeming. The show will run from May 31, 2014, to July 6, 2014, with an artist reception on May 31st from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

About the Artist: Linnea Toney Leeming is an abstract painter whose multi-faceted career as an artist, educator, and photographer has spanned more than 30 years. After receiving her BFA and exhibiting for many years as a fine art photographer, Leeming became intrigued by the ability to visually communicate without the distraction of mechanical tools. Pursuing this passion for painting, she attended RISD and the Boston Museum School and received private instruction in abstraction. Since that time, Leeming has enjoyed a successful painting career. She has been exhibiting abstract paintings since 1993.

Leeming continues her interest in eye to hand directness in creating her own sense of space and time, using the abstractionist’s process-driven approach to painting and utilizing the practice of listening to the unconscious. Large abstract paintings are conceived by making a series of considered decisions fueled by issues of color and space, where lines, patterns and textures overlap and merge into unified compositions. Working intuitively and impulsively, always vibrant and energetic, her paintings burst with color, the mind and hand working together to spark imagination.

Leeming’s paintings can be seen in galleries and collections throughout New England and New York.
