The Providence Art Club will be hosting an artist talk by glass artist Alice Benvie Gebhart at their Dodge House Gallery on Wednesday, September 10 at 6:00 p.m.
“I work at translating and elevating the average, day-to-day into an enthusiastic and energetic celebration.
Being born into an artistic family, my father and grandfather were practicing artists, I continue the family legacy with glass. I am captivated when finding appealing combinations of elements in the everyday scene.
Glass is the media that reveals this natural vibrancy to its utmost. I enjoy the technique of using glass to create something that is both abstract and literal.”
Alice Benvie-Gebhart earned her bachelor and master’s degrees in art education with concentrations in painting and printmaking. She worked as a teacher and painter for many years before discovering fused glass. She now works exclusively in kiln-fired glass.
