A FARMERS-MAKERS MARKETPLACE WHERE LOCALS AND VISITORS COME FOR BREAKFAST, STAY FOR LUNCH, AND LEAVE WITH DINNER.
Find an unmatched variety of specialty foods and beverages all summer long with a cast of 48 Rhode Island and Massachusetts-based vendors including 30 Hope & Main members. Schoolyard Market features a unique, interactive experience where market-goers can sample and purchase products made by many small food start-ups who create products in our shared-use, commercial kitchens.
This food-focused marketplace boasts hundreds of products ranging from fresh vegetables, meats, and seafood to baked goods, confections, skin care products, kitchen wares and more. Most vendors are here all summer, however, as the season rolls on we introduce new companies launching from our Incubator Program. Schoolyard Market-goers are typically the very first customers these fledgling companies meet. Schoolyard Market is more than a farmers market – it’s a space where neighbors and community members gather to eat, learn AND grow.
This unique market not only offers the newest local products, but is also a place to be inspired! Each market features live cooking demonstrations featuring recipes that utilize locally-made products and produce that even the most inexperienced cooks can bring to the table! Participate in the demos, get the recipes on site, then shop the market for your ingredients!
Find our unique marketplace in the former schoolyard of our century-old building, known as Main Street School. Enjoy self-guided tours through our garden which is alive with native varieties of fruits, vegetables, herbs and flowers.
Parking is plentiful in the neighborhood, and we’re easily accessible via RIPTA #60 as well as the beautiful East Bay Bike Path. Well-behaved, leashed pets welcome.
We’re a Compost Depot!
Thanks to our friends at The Compost Plant, all food waste is collected onsite, and later processed into nutrient rich soil amendment. Schoolyard shoppers can join in on this important process and collect food waste at home! Pick up a collection bucket at the market and bring it back each Sunday to empty it out.
