WaterFire Full Lighting: National Grid

Event Details

National Grid is sponsoring WaterFire on Saturday, August 9th 2014. The lighting begins at sunset around 7:55 PM. The event usually ends close to midnight.

National Grid is an international electricity and gas company, and one of the largest investor-owned energy companies in the world. The company plays a vital role in providing energy to millions of customers across the Northeastern United States and Great Britain. National Grid aims to provide energy in an efficient, safe, and reliable manner.

National Grid delivers the energy to the places where Rhode Islanders live, work and play. This year, they are once again proud to be a sponsor of WaterFire Providence to help shine a light on the rich cultural heritage of our community. Stop by their tent, located on Washington Street Bridge from 6:30pm-11:30pm, for a variety of interactive and educational energy efficiency demonstrations, such as learning how much energy a standard light bulb uses or what you can do with old refrigerators.

Need a battery boost? National Grid will also be providing courtesy phone charging stations on Washington Street and Canal Street so you can continue to share your experience at WaterFire using your mobile device.

As always, the WaterFire Store will be open from 5:30pm-11:30pm on Canal Street where you can stop in and buy a t-shirt, hoodie, poster, magnet, pendants and much more to help support WaterFire.

It’s been 2 years, but the WaterFire Providence Ballroom is back in action and celebrating the 150th Anniversary of the Providence Police Department. A crowd favorite, this Ballroom will be located on the corner of Weybosset and Westminster and will feature dance lessons, a special celebration for the 150 years of Providence Police, and live music, making this spot the most happening place to be!

Join the WaterFire Providence Ballroom from 7pm-8pm, where Providence Swings and DJ Shawn McAedle will teach you how to dance. Then enjoy live music by Roger Ceresi’s All Starz from 8pm-9:10pm and 10:15pm-11:20pm. At 9:20pm, the Providence Police will arrive to kick off a birthday celebration like no other! Join us as we thank and celebrate 150 Years of the Providence Police. Taking us through the rest of the night, Tony Cerbo will be performing from 9:30pm-10:10pm and from 11:30pm-12pm, where this local Rhode Islander and legend will be bringing the Rat Pack back to life.

Finally, be sure to stop by the Ignite Music Stage at WaterFire Providence from 7pm-11pm on Steeple Street. Sponsored by Geico | Local Office and Fat Belly’s Pub, performance by Jesus Andujar & Grupo Sazon will get you up and moving!
