Clothing Optional: A Figurative Show: 5:30 pm Opening reception. “Clothing Optional” will feature works by a number of local, national and international artists, including: Jeff Bye, Ted DiLucia, Elizabeth Frank, Ted Gall, Kristy Goggio, Jeff Hall, Daniel Koterbay, Azamat Kuliev, James Paterson, Eleanor Rahim, Jeff Schneider, and David Witbeck.
Origami Workshop with Rod Nice: 6:30 p.m. Rod Nice (aka “Sensei”) is returning to the Providence Public Library to enchant us with his origami teachings…learn how to fold an Origami Rose in this special workshop!
Preserving Native Plant Knowledge presented by New England Wild Flower Society: Part of an ongoing lecture series for a presentation on the importance of human interaction with native plants and their habitats. We will learn about the many uses of New England native plants for food, medicine, and the creation of materials and household goods.

KidInfo Storytime + Art in the Park: 10:30 a.m. Come to ART IN THE PARK, where resident creative genius Ricky Katowicz leads us into The Great Green Room! Here the stories of Margaret Wise Brown – such as Goodnight Moon, Runaway Bunny, The Important Book and others – will be transformed into magical experiences using all of the 5 senses! Katowicz will be hosting several guest artists to lend their specialties to the playful and rhythmic styles of Margaret Wise Brown.
Visiting Artist Program Workshop: 3:00 p.m. This workshop will present an overview of stained glass construction with the opportunity for participants to create a small piece of their own.
Armory Farmers Market: 3:30 p.m. Come check out the Armory Farmers Market and all of the fresh and local foods it has to offer! The market is located at the corner of Parade and Hudson Streets in Providence. Sign up for their Market Share CSA and we’ll shop for you, with a prearranged medley of fresh veggies and fruits from the farmers at the Armory Market waiting for you each week.
2015 Burnside Music Festival: 4:30 p.m. Join us every Thursday this summer for beautiful times in Burnside Park, replete with delightful bevs by Trinity Brewhouse, delicious food by Rhode Island’s greatest food trucks, casual jams by celebrity DJs, and, of course, the finest tunes Rhode Island has to offer, courtesy of a kaleidoscopic array of astounding musicians.
Gallery Night at Whitehorne House: 5:00 p.m. Enjoy Newport’s only Federal period mansion open to the public. Whitehorne House displays the most significant collection of Newport furniture in Rhode Island. Explore the design and craftsmanship of the colonial era inside the house before visiting the garden for refreshments. Free.
Movies on the Block: 7:30 p.m. The city’s only outdoor movie theatre is back for another season! Join us every Thursday from June 4th to September 24th at Grant’s Block for night of watching great movies under the stars in the heart of Providence. August 13: The Exorcist

Blithewold Family Fun Friday- Kaleidoscope Theater- Goldilocks and the Three Bears: 11:00 a.m. Aside from a day at the beach, Blithewold’s Family Fun Fridays are the ultimate family-friendly way to enjoy an early summer afternoon. Bring a picnic, a blanket to sit on, and enjoy the show! Each week, dance and sing along with the kids to a variety of educational and interactive musical performances. After the performance from 11 to Noon, there will be a fun nature-inspired craft activity, face painting, and free slices of pizza (1 per person) from noon to 1 p.m.

Dot Air- Experimental Music Festival: 3:00 p.m. Dot Air is an experimental music festival celebrating sonic and performative experimentation that grows out of the skeletal remains of the American Industrial Revolution. Dot Air is hosted by Machines with Magnets and Blackstone Valley Tourism Council.

WaterFire Providence Full Lighting- Clear Currents Event: Lighting time: 8:07 p.m. All Full WaterFire installations light up over eighty braziers from Waterplace Park to Memorial/South Main Street Park on the below scheduled evenings. Lighting occurs shortly after sunset and the event continues until half past midnight. Clear Currents is the portion of the evening’s WaterFire lighting that incorporates 100 illuminated Japanese koi (fish) temporarily mounted on canoes and kayaks that registered participants will paddle up and down the river after sunset. The light from these brightly colored fish will beautifully compliment the 80 wood burning braziers installed on the river! Sponsored by Amica Insurance and Nortek Inc.
