It’s here folks, the beginning of Providence Roller Derby’s home season, the moment you’ve all been waiting for. On July 19th, the first bout of the 2014 home season, the Sakonnet River Roller Rats skate against the Mob Squad at Thayer Arena.
Look out for veteran Rats like Craisy Dukes and Mary Slayne while they battle veteran Mobsters Freak ‘N Awesome and All the Way Mae. Of course each team has its share of new skaters, like Trannie Oakley and Merida Misfit on the Rats, and a few familiar power houses returning to the Mob, Sweet Tease and Ruca A. Salt, back from the dreaded nine month injury and fighting fit. Both teams are looking ready and raring to go, be sure not to miss this home season opener as it’s going to be a bruiser!
And this is a double header! The Killah Bees, Providence Roller Derby’s B travel team, are taking on the Hartford Wailers from Hartford, CT! Bring your sting to cheer them on! There will even be a beard contest to support the Bees!
Adult General Admission: $15 at the door / $10 online
Kids 5-12: $7 at the door / $5 online
Kids under 5: FREE!
This bout’s featured charity is the Sojourner House, whose mission is to provide culturally sensitive support, advocacy, safety and respect for victims of domestic abuse and to effect systems change.
