Puzzled: Ode ‘Owed’ to Channing, New Artwork by Umberto Crenca

Event Details

Umberto Crenca will open his latest gallery in Pawtucket called, “Puzzled: Ode (Owed) to Channing.”

Umberto Crenca is a Providence-based artist, and the founder and artistic director of AS220. This exhibit is Crenca’s first solo exhibit in several years, and the exhibit will remain open until April 27th.

The artist describes his exhibit as “the middle of an endless purge” of “socio-political mear,” and centers around twenty new mixed-media paintings which incorporate themes ranging from copyright to capital punishment and abortion to marijuana. The works are presented in a surrealistic manner, and run the gamut from lighthearted to nightmare-ish, but never lose their sense of background humor. The exhibit will also feature an installation of handmade politically-themed peace flags and Crenca’s ‘Mobile Urban Gentrification Unit.’
