Now in its 6th year, the Southeast New England Film, Music & Arts Festival has established itself as one of the premier festivals in New England dedicated to giving life to independent cinema, music and art.  Join us for 6 days of independent films, live music, art exhibits and lively parties. Meet filmmakers from all over the world, local artists and musicians all in one dynamic festival.

Price: $5 donation to WMOA (includes free ticket to any film screening at the Columbus Theatre on Friday or Saturday)

A wordless, musical tribute to the main themes in the life and work of Polish-Jewish artist and political cartoonist, Arthur Szyk (1894-1951): the ideals of American democracy. the horrors of Nazism, the tragedy of the Holocaust and the rebirth of the Jewish people in Israel.  Szyk was a leading visual voice against the Axis powers in New York during WWII.

Before becoming a famous writer, Nobel-Prize winner and controversial public figure Gunter Grass has been a visual artist and a craftsman. This early passion for the concrete and physical is a vital source of his creativity until today. At the age of 83, he produces etchings to illustrate ‘Dog Years’, a novel he wrote half a century ago. Working in close collaboration with the fine-arts printer Fritz Margull, their conversations convey their love for the craft, their expertise, and the mutual understanding of a longstanding companionship. The images they create have accompanied and haunted Grass all his life – telling what words can’t describe.
