Sunday, June 1st

Warwick Symphony Orchestra Concert, 2:00pm

On June 1st the Warwick Symphony Orchestra will present music made famous by great artists spanning almost eighty years of popular genres including: Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Dave Brubeck, the Beatles, Journey, Carlos Santana, Coldplay and more.

Providence Art Club: Three Galleries Reception, 2:00pm

There will be an opening reception at the Providence Art Club on Sunday, June 1, 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm for the three galleries. The galleries are always free and open to the public.

Tuesday, June 3rd

Professor Russell Potter at the Athenaeum, 5:00pm

Professor Russell Potter will illustrate some of the ways in which Victorian audiences encountered the perils of the Arctic, seeming to accompany polar explorers via a variety of visual and mechanical contrivances, among them the Panorama, the Diorama, the Moving Panorama, and the Magic Lantern.

Friday, June 6th

Going Nowhere: Alumni Artists in Providence, 5:30pm

This exhibition features six alumni artists who have chosen to live and work in Providence since graduating from Brown University. Notable for their commitment to the city’s distinctive creative community and for their social connectedness to each other, the artists featured in this exhibition make aesthetically diverse work rooted in experimentation and play.

CityArts Boas and Bowties Gala, 7:00pm

The Boas and Bowties Gala promises to be a spectacular event, featuring entertainment provided by The New Providence Big Band (a 19 piece ensemble!), dancing, youth performances, a roaring 20s photo booth, a cash bar, and fare from Russell Morin Fine Catering.

RHD-RI Presents Pizza World, 7:00pm

Attend this multi-media performance with original script, music and video by the artists of RHD’s Cool Collective. Meet the performers and artists and sip refreshments while exploring the art inspired by Pizza World.

Saturday, June 7th

Black Indians in Space: The Constellation Reception, 6:00pm

Yellow Peril Gallery is pleased to present “Black Indians in Space: The Constellation,” an exhibition of mixed-media collages exploring African American and Native American stereotypes and identity by James Montford.

Haven Brothers Documentary World Premiere, 7:00pm

Diners, which began in Providence, RI in the late 1800s, were initially all on wheels. Haven Brothers is last survivor of this tradition of late night lunch carts and the oldest continually operating diner on wheels in the world.
