WaterFire – Saturday, August 6th, 2016
A WaterFire Lighting for RI Defeats Hep C, sponsored by HepCHope.com
Lighting at 8:19 PM, fires stay lit until 12:30 AM

All Full WaterFire installations light up over eighty braziers from Waterplace Park to Memorial/South Main Street Park on the below scheduled evenings. Lighting occurs shortly after sunset and the event continues until half past midnight.

Creature LabThursday, August 6th, 2016
Providence Children’s Museum, 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM

Bring your children to the Providence Children’s Museum this Thursday for Creature Lab: kids can create imaginative mixed-up creatures by observing and mix-matching animal anatomy to result in new mythical creatures!  

Discover Colonial Newport: Walking Tour Thursday, August 4th, 2016
Brick Market: Museum & Shop, 10:30 AM to 11:45 AM

Looking for a kid-friendly morning in Newport?  Take a walking tour and learn about the extraordinary entrepreneurship and religious diversity of the city’s colonial period.  Starting at the Brick Market, tours are $15 per person, $10 for Newport Historical Society members, active duty and retired military with ID and $5 for children ages 5-12.

Stargazing Night at Frosty Drew Observatory – Friday, August 5th, 2016
Frosty Drew Observatory – 7:30 pm to 11:30 pm

Have you ever wanted to explore outer space?  This is your change!  Come visit the Frosty Drew Observatory and Sky Theatre for their Stargazing Night, a unique astronomical experience that is appropriate for all ages. Cost: $1 suggested donation.

Food Truck FridayFriday, August 5th, 2016
Carousel Village at Roger Williams Park, 5 PM to 8 PM

All ages will enjoy “Food Truck Friday” at Carousel Park in Roger Williams Park! From 5:00 to 8:00 PM, local food trucks will serve dinner while customers enjoy live music and other fun family friendly activities. Pony rides will be available, and Hasbro’s Boundless Playground and the park carousel being open for use. There will also be a beer garden for the adults to enjoy while they take in the beautiful scenery. Entry is free, but pony/carousel rides and food/beverage will be an additional cost.

Wake up the Barnyard at Coggeshall Farm – Saturday, August 6th, 2016
Coggeshall Farm Museum, 9 AM to 10 AM

Each and every Saturday through the end of August, Coggeshall will open at 9 am for its Wake Up the Barnyard program!  Help feed chickens and get sheep and cows ready for the day.  Good for all ages, admission to this program ranges from $5-7.

Art in the Garden – Thursday, August 4th – Sunday, August 7th, 2016
Blithewold Mansion – 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM

This summer,Blithewold welcomes artist Stephen Procter’s handmade ceramics to the Blithewold gardens. 20 carefully crafted vessels for stand harmoniously in gardens throughout the estate, so come out and take a look around!

Metlife Family Friday – Friday, July 29th, 2016
Providence Children’s Museum, 5 PM – 8 PM

Families are invited to explore and play at Providence Children’s Museum free of charge! The museum will be free on Friday evenings from 5 PM to 8 PM, sponsored by the Metlife Foundation.

Concerts

Matt Fraza – Thursday, August 4th, 2016
The Met, Doors at 8 PM, show at 9 PM

Matt Fraza will be playing at the Met this Thursday with Matt York and This Modern Bridge, so come out and enjoy the show (appropriate for all ages).  Tickets are $8, doors open at 8:00, and the show opens at 9:00.

Big Thief – Friday, August 5th, 2016
Columbus Theatre, Doors at 8 PM, show at 9 PM

This Friday, the Columbus Cooperative proudly presents Big Thief, with special guest Cantina.  All ages are welcome, tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door.

Glenn Miller Orchestra – Sunday, August 7th, 2016
Stadium Theater, 2:00 PM
