Thursday, May 22nd

Consuelo’s Revenge at The Parlour Consuelo’s Revenge, The Quahogs, Triple Threat, and Cousin Tommy will be performing at The Parlour in Providence at 8 pm. Consuelo’s Revenge is influenced by artists such as Tom Waits, Sam Cooks, Hank Williams, Ray Charles, Nina Simone, and Bruce Springstein and has a unique sound that is sure to capture the audience’s attention. This event is 21 + and there is a $7 cover charge at the door.

Friday, May 23rd

Journalist Alexander Stille: Salon at the Athenaeum At this Providence Athenaeum salon, journalist Alexander Stille will discuss his memoir The Force of Things: A Marriage in War and Peace.  His nuanced portrait of his parents’ marriage highlights the 20th century moment when the mass migration of Jews from fascist-dominated Europe created the cross-pollination that reshaped much of American culture and society.

WaterFire Full Lighting Don’t miss the first full lighting of the WaterFire Providence 2014 season! The lighting ceremony begins at 8:07 pm – in the meantime, stop by the WaterFire Arts Festival Plaza on Washington Street where you can view and purchase locally made glassware, jewelry, paintings, photography, clothing and more.  This special evening is sponsored by the Brown Alumni Association, Brown’s 250th Anniversary, and Bank of America.

Brown University Alumni Exhibition Part 2 In celebration of Brown University’s 250th anniversary, the David Winton Bell Gallery presents the Brown University Alumni Exhibition Part 2, featuring work by alumni Sarah Morris ’89, Rob Reynolds ’90 and Taryn Simon ’97. May 25th is the last day to view this alumni exhibition.
