Carve like the professionals – the Passion for Pumpkins professionals that is! Join John Reckner, founder of the Jack O Lantern Spectacular at the Roger Williams Park Zoo, and learn the techniques of intricate pumpkin carving.  All workshop attendants get a set of tools, a template and an un-glutted pumpkin.  John will teach the students how to transfer their template to a 3 dimensional Jack O Lantern that can be proudly displayed at home.  Registration deadline extended – so register now.

Carousel Village at Roger Williams Park, 5 PM to 8 PM

People of all ages will delight in “Food Truck Friday” held at Carousel Park in Roger Williams Park! Local food trucks will be open for dinner while customers enjoy live music and other activities. Pony rides will be offered, in addition to Hasbro’s Boundless Playground and the park carousel being open for use. There will also be a beer garden for the adults to enjoy while they take in the beautiful scenery. There is no cost for entry, but pony/carousel rides and food/beverage will be an additional cost.

Roger Williams In Context Arts Program

Come early to this coming Sunday’s September 4th WaterFire lighting to attend two theatrical performances as part of WaterFire’s Roger Williams in Context arts program.  The event is part of a series of performances at the Roger Williams National Memorial presented prior to WaterFire on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service.  The program reexamines Roger Williams’ promises and philosophy and asks how successfully his Lively Experiment fulfilled his vision for establishing a just society based on freedom, equality and liberty.

Take a trip to Roger Williams Zoo to visit with more than 450 bird species native to Australia, including grass parakeets, cockatiels and various other parrot species. Each visitor will receive a seed stick and is free to feed the exotic birds while engaging in conversation about their habitats and the environmental challenges they face. Admission is an additional $3 to zoo admission.
